            The SCENAR is a small, hand held biofeedback device developed for the Russian space program to address the problems of illness and injury encountered in space travel.  It is efficient, multi-applicable, portable and non-invasive.  The SCENAR uses a biofeedback system to send and receive electromagnetic signals, which show  areas of imbalance or pathology, and then treats them energetically according to what each body needs and can receive.  It is so sensitive that it can detect and pinpoint areas that are stressed or in crisis that are not yet in your awareness or producing symptoms.   The SCENAR promotes healing by stimulating the C-fibres of the nervous system, which comprise 85% of all nerves in the body.  This in turn stimulates production of neuro and regulatory peptides, the body’s internal pharmacy of chemicals by which the body is kept in physiological balance and healing takes place. Without the activity of regulatory peptides produced by the nerves, the body can adapt to disease states, which may be caused by injury, infection or toxicity.  Because these peptides last up to several hours, the healing process lasts long after the treatment is over.  And the healing process is ongoing for another reason.  Disease occurs where portions of the body have been blocked from communication with the energetic system (autonomic and central nervous system) that keeps it in balance.  The SCENAR begins a dialogue with these blocked areas and re-establishes communication.  Once begun, these information starved areas keep on “talking” as they are anxious to stretch, move, and come back to life.  The final reason the SCENAR is so effective, is it regulates the cell membrane electrical potentials and intercellular electrical potentials, which are responsible for allowing nutrients into the cell and eliminating wastes.  It’s a “push-pull” type of cellular action and it’s ability to do so adequately decreases with age, stress and disease.  The SCENAR can up-regulate this potential when compromised and return it to its normal functioning level, thereby helping to regulate and restore normal homeostasis.

The SCENAR is operated by placing the device directly on the skin where it sends electrical signals, records the resistive response, and uses its sophisticated software to return freshly modulated signals back to the body, thus preventing adaptation.  The signals received are displayed as numbers in the digital readout and gives the practitioner information on the imbalances in the body.  It also produces asymmetries on the skin that indicate a need for specific treatment in that area.  These can occur as redness, stickiness, numbness, and white areas.  A change in the numerical display or in the sound of the device as it is being used can also signal areas that need attention.  Although these areas may not be directly related to the symptoms for which the client sought treatment, the healing process is commenced and supported by treating these asymmetries.   During treatment, the client feels a gentle tingling, pressure, warmth, stroking sensation as the SCENAR is run over the spine, limbs, infected, injured, painful areas, or other relevant skin surfaces. A session lasts 60-90 minutes depending on client acuity.

          The SCENAR has been widely used by Russian physicians and scientists for over 30 years and has been certified by the UK as a medical device for the treatment of pain for the last 15 years.  There are no unwanted side effects and the device is perfectly safe.  Information from a large body of research papers, clinical reports and training manuals indicates that the overall effectiveness of the SCENAR is about 80% in all cases (where effectiveness is defined as a cure in 2/3’s of the cases and significant improvement in the rest).  Dr Keith Scott-Mumby, writing in “Virtual Medicine” (London: Thorsons 1999), reports cumulative rates of effectiveness in a variety of disease categories as follows:
